Student Achievement

Student success is at the heart of everything we do at Florida State University.  Our undergraduate student retention rate (97%) and four-year graduation rate (78%) are on par with the top 10 public universities in the nation. In 2021, FSU was recognized with the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ Degree Completion Award, largely recognized as the top undergraduate student success award in the nation. Additionally, FSU has committed $10 million over five years to enhance graduate student success through our 2024 Quality Enhancement Plan.

Through our integrated, dynamic, and data-engaged approach to supporting students, FSU ensures that students are connected to faculty and staff who are committed to helping them achieve ambitious educational and career goals while preparing them with the foundational skills for the lifelong learning and professional development required in a rapidly changing world.

Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation

FSU’s institutional accreditor is the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. FSU’s accreditation by SACSCOC means the university meets broad standards of quality and ensures that qualifying students have access to Title IV federal financial aid programs. For more information about the university’s status with SACSCOC, visit FSU’s Institutional Accreditation webpage.

FSU also maintains specialized accreditation for select academic programs where such recognition meets licensing or employment requirements or where it enhances a program’s quality or reputation. The most recent list of FSU’s programmatic accreditations is available on the Accreditation and Quality Assurance webpage.

Licensure and Exam Pass Rates

For academic programs preparing students for a profession that leads to licensure or certification, data on FSU student pass rates are provided on the respective program’s website. For ease of navigation, you may use the following links to access that information.

  • Audiology/Speech Pathology
  • Education
  • Interior Design
  • Nurse Anesthesia
  • Physician Assistant
  • Social Work
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Nursing
  • Psychology/Behavior Analysis
  • Medicine
  • Nutrition
  • School Counseling

Since educational requirements for licensure vary by state, FSU is obligated to inform the public of whether such offerings will meet licensure requirements in Florida and other states. Since graduates often intend to work outside of Florida, prospective and enrolled students are encouraged to check the FSU Professional Licensure and Certification website for any relevant program of study.
